We are 10 members from the Pierce County Sheriff's Dept. that will be riding in the 2016 Police Unity Tour; a 320 mile bicycle ride from East Hanover, NJ to Washington DC.
We are riding to Remember those Law Enforcement Officers that have died in the Line of Duty.
This blog has been set up so we can post on here each night of the Tour how our ride is going. We want to give those that have donated to this worthy cause the ability to be able to follow us each day during this challenging ride.

Gift Wrapping at Bass Pro Shops Tacoma
I want to thank all the people that came out to the Bass Pro Shop in Tacoma on Black Friday and
donated to out gift wrapping fundraiser!
We had a lot of fun meeting people and spreading the word on what the Police Unity Tour is all about. Dennis and Sgt. Marquiss both split time on the stationary bike trainer as we chatted with people, handed out sheriff stickers to kids, and wrapped some difficult gifts people brought to us (bow and arrow set).
We will be doing this one more time on December 18th at that Bass Pro Shop, so if you can, please stop by!
Below is a video I put together that really shows in picture and video what the Police Unity Tour is all about. It is about 5 minutes long, but worth the time to watch.

First Post for Team Pierce County 2016
Thank you for taking the time to check out our Blog for the 2016
Police Unity Tour. We are a team of 10 riders plus Two support personnel
that will be fundraising in the coming months to ride and participate in the
20th year of the Police Unity Tour. For those of you who do not know what
the Police Unity Tour is, it is a fundraising Bicycle ride that is open to any
active or retired Law Enforcement Officer, and family members of those who have
lost their relative while in the Line of Duty.
The Police Unity Tour is a 501(c) 3 Non-Profit foundation that raises
money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and all that the NLEOM
supports. Each rider and support member has to raise $1,850.00 in order to be
accepted in the Tour. And for us, that means in total our team will have
to raise over $22,200.
I have set up this page, like I have in years past (see tab to the
right for a link to those rides), so that those that are interested in watching
how we are doing in the Tour can check in on this Blog before and during the
ride to Washington DC. If you would like to find out more on what the
Police Unity Tour or the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is all
about, I have included links to both in the column to the right and at the bottom of this post.
Below I have included two videos. The first is of our first
ride with Chapter 1 of the Police Unity Tour in 2012. The second is a
clip from our local community channel show in Pierce County in which
we explain what the Unity Tour is and why we do it.
Again Thank you for checking out our Team Blog and check back often
to see where we are at in our training, team pictures, who our
major contributors are and ultimately, to check in on us each night as we ride
in the 320 mile ride over four days from New Jersey to Washington DC.
